Blog Money

Money, money, money!

How to tag a Post?

Tags are important for a posts rating in Google. But how do you tag them, and will they reach the goal to cover a wide range of search options?  There are many programs out there for Search analysis, but one of the easiest ones is Googles own Keyword analyser.

Just write a keyword, and Google will give you suggestions about words close to yours with figures on how many, who have searched on each keyword.

Another simple trick, is to find out a common misspelling close to yours keyword.

Earn money on your website by using Adsense and/or Affiliate programs

When you have built up some traffic to your website, it’s time to start to earn money on it.

There are two different main ways to earn money on your website/blog. You may use Adsense and/or Affiliate programs depending on your strategy.

Adsense
Google is with no doubt the biggest adsense partner on the world wide web. And if you want to use Google, they will not allow you to use any other adsense programs, therefor I will refer to Google adsense in this post.

The absolute largest benefit with Adsense is the way the program adopts to the content on the website. If you have a blog with the main subject “Stock market” and uses Adsense links in the Sidebar, the ads will all be related to trading, but then you maybe want to make a post about “Environmental friendly cars”, and then the Adsense program just adjust the ads to this post. Briliant!

One aspect to consider about adsense is the payment you get per click. There are some “subjects” where the payment will be higher, but most common click rate is less than $1/click and the main rule is, broader subject equals lower payment per click.

Another aspect is about how good this text-links fit into your website design. If you have a well designed blog, then maybe the ad-links destroys more then it return’s on clicks.

Affiliate marketing
The easiest way to start affiliate marketing is to use some of portals for affiliates.
With example Google Ads, Google decides which links that appears on yours website. When you use affiliate programs, you can choose exactly who you will advertise and often you have the possibility to choose an appropriate banner that fits on yours website as well.

With Adsense programs you will only have return on clicks. With affiliate programs, the return may be much bigger because you will often get some percentage of the sales yours link produced.

One very good example of affiliate program is Amazon. Here you may write about a product and make a link to the product in the post to Amazon. If someone who reads yours article and get interested in the product buys the product, then you will get 4% of the sales price. So if you write about a Digital Camera that costs $1000 and four people buys this camera then you will earn $160.

Affiliate plus Adsense
The most recently used method is to have both Adsense and Affiliate advertises on your blog. The affiliate advertiser is good to catch people who are really interested in the subject and Adwords are for people “who just surfs around”.

In the end, the most important is the content of the website, a narrower the subject, the better all advertising tools will work. As I wrote in the “SEO for Wordpress” post, organic traffic from search engines gives a higher return than readers from toplistlinks.

Quick guide to Search Engine Optimize (SEO) Wordpress

Short facts
1. There are millions of blogs out there. To be successful you have to stand out somehow from the huge amount.
2. Organic traffic from Google and other search engines gives a much higher click rate then links from blog-top-lists.

How Google make it’s page-rank?
The exact equation for Googles page-ranking is for me unknown, but these are the main factors.

-The URL
-The title
-Meta tags
-Links from other pages
-Tags
-Text on a page with header format

How to make Wordpress Search engine friendly?
Wordpress is already quite Search Engine friendly, but there are some minor moderations needed.
1. The first thing you must do is to change the Permalinks, this you will find under settings. In wordpress, each blog post have a unique ID, which will make the URL like this www.yourblog.com/?p=124. This is not good for search engines, if you make a post about Apple stocks, then you will have the subject in the URL for optimizing the hit ratio.
All you need to do is to change to Custom Structure in the Permalinks settings and write /%postname%/.

2. Be accurate with yours Categories, it will help the Crawlers and yours visitors to have a clear structure

3. Use links. If you have posts you are keen on having a good rank on, don’t be afraid to link to this post from other posts, and make links on the front page to this post as well. Try to get links from others, remember that links in comment field also counts.

4. To optimize the title and the meta tags, you may do this in the header.php file in the themes directory, but I strongly recommend to save time and make this with a plugin called SEO Pack, that also makes it easier to change in the future. Download it here.

5. Newer versions of Wordpress supports tags to posts, just remember to use this opportunity.

Of course there exist many more adjustments for better rank but this post handles just the basics for better rank. Of course I will write about more adjustments in future posts.
